5 Tips For Working From Home - Carissa Weck
In our current season many of us are either working from home, studying from home or learning from home. For some people working from home is the ultimate dream come true, but I know a lot of us probably struggle with staying focused or efficient when living in and working from the same space. Over the last few weeks i’ve figured out a few tips and tricks that have personally helped me to stay focused and work to the best of my ability!
1. Set up your work space.
While we may have the luxury to sit in bed while doing work or lazing on the couch as we reply to emails - you will work your best when you have either a desk or a specific space where you are able to do your work everyday. Ensure your space is clean and attractive for you to work from. For example, I absolutely love having a few candles and flowers on my desk. I also put worship music softly in the background as I work. These things may be small but they motivate me to sit down and work!
2. Write a list!
At the start of each day, write out a to-do list of the things you need to achieve everyday. This will help you to feel purposeful in the tasks you need to finish as well as keep you on track. When I write these lists, I also like to include personal to do lists as well, such as washing my sheets, vacuuming, cooking dinner etc. Each day I write on my list something that I need to get done to look after myself. This helps me to ensure I am also taking care of myself as well as working efficiently from home with the tasks I've been given.
3. Have water and snacks throughout the day.
I am often guilty of not doing this, as I like to live on coffee when days are busy... But the most important thing i have found that helps me stay focused, is ensuring i am eating and taking care of myself throughout the day. I keep a water bottle next to my laptop as well as a snack. The easiest snacks I've found are protein bars, fruit or crackers with hummus. These help me to feel full as well as stay energised and focused!
4. Have breaks and schedule calls with friends.
As a lot of us are physically isolated during this time I have found it is important to schedule face to face calls with friends or family throughout the day! I know for some of us, this will be hard. But ladies, it is totally okay to schedule 15-30 minutes into your day to sit down and have a break. It’s actually proven to help people be more efficient and trust me, it will help you too! Just ensure you stick to your time limit and head back to work after!
5. Exercise daily
I know a lot of you probably groaned when you read this one - but trust me, exercising daily is one of the best ways I have found myself to stay focused, energised and to feel great while working from home. I schedule my week in order to do morning workouts twice a week and evening workouts on all the other days. It always leaves me feeling better and more productive. There are so many great exercises that can be done from home and some you can even do in 30 minutes!
Most importantly ladies, make sure that in this season of working from home you are taking care of yourself! Praying and believing this season will be your best yet!
