Do Not Be Deceived- Juni Leong
Galatians 6:7 says “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. This is the eternal principle of reaping what you sow.”
May I propose to you that the life we live does have eternal consequences. God has given us grace for our sins, however grace does not give us the license to sin. Grace instead empowers us to live a righteous life.
Our belief in Jesus determines where you will spend eternity. God's gift of righteousness does not excuse righteous living. God loves the sinner, but he still hates the sin.
It is important that we invest in eternity. Whatever you do here on earth is for the glory of God and it is essentially that we invest in a life pleasing to Him. It is a reaping from the eternal realm that is the benefit of living in the principles of God here on earth. Once we choose to be discipled by Christ, we can no longer live our life in our own ungodliness. We also cannot have morality without Godliness or Godliness without morality. Our own efforts of doing good without the God element is pointless. There is a grace that comes when we love God and intend on pursuing Him then we would want to abide in His ways.
May I suggest to you that the enemy deceives us by making it seem okay to bend God’s principles because of His eternal grace. Although we serve a gracious God we should never take His character for granted. The Holy Spirit exposes our sin, convicts us of it and ask for forgiveness for it. Like a loving father God loves us yet correct us.
Sin easily entangles us and keep us in bondage. (Hebrews 12:1) May I encourage you today to come before God, confess your sin, repent and receive His forgiveness. Choose then to live a life pleasing to Him. I know that we all fall short of the glory of God, but we should never remain in that position but always seek to rise above and pursue the goodness and righteousness of God. I am writing this to myself, I am a sinner too and God knows my past, present and all my weaknesses. But I promise you it is a life worth living, a life without striving, a life of freedom. And that is what it truly means to be a disciple of God.
John 14:23 explains this well when Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
