Building a Strong Family

What is a strong family?

Being a healthy family is more than being without problems. They too have problems like everyone else and is not without challenges. It is the presence of guidelines for living, and the ability to surmount life’s obstacles when they arise. Members have learnt ways to treat each other with love, respect, and loyalty, while also enjoying and talking to each other. They are a united team with a sense of “We”. At the same time, no individual gets lost or smothered, but are encouraged to develop his or her potential.

Unconditional love and knowing that family can be depended upon (commitment) makes the family strong and different.

Strong families are made step by step, and have to work at it to nurture it constantly. Above all and most importantly, a strong and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, family relationships rooted in God’s Word, and being empowered by the Holy Spirit are the bedrock of strong, healthy families. This also makes the home a positive and pleasant place in which to live.

In conclusion, six major qualities to build a strong family include: commitment, affection and appreciation, positive communication, time together, the ability to cope with stress and crisis, as well as spiritual wellbeing, must be lived out.

Strong families unite to meet challenges, are effective problem-solvers and pull together to pull through life.
