Let Go - Michelle Ramsden

One of the hardest things to let go of as an independent woman in this present age is control. We like to make sure that things go the way we want it, when and exactly where it has planned to be.  Whether this is at school, careers or in our relationships. Though this may be the case, it is totally contrary to how God desires us to be. We were created to be outwardly independent but inwardly dependent on Him.

As a daughter I need to trust God, take Him at His word, that “all things work together work together for the good of those who love the Lord…” otherwise I only exist to live a limited life! I would be reduced to a life of obsession and paranoia, which my Father in heaven doesn’t want for me. He would like to share with us all the beautiful and glorious things He has promised you and me. Let’s look at a few ways we can go about this:

He has promised to be with us wherever we go, trust that

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

So many of us have been abandoned at one point or another whether it be by friends or family and because of that our view of God is marred. I remember as a child I hardly had any friends who would stick around, so when I grew up I struggled with friendships because I honestly was not about to bet on people just passing through and this little thing really affected my relationship with God, I would wonder at times if He was really there. It wasn’t until I chose to take His promises to heart that I actually got to see them come to pass in my life. It’s a choice I have to make, to trust.

He knows the future, trust that

When you get on a bus, you believe that you will get to your destination because the driver has been to where you are going. Well, your Father is already in the future now, cheering you on, waiting on you to get there! He is not bound by space and time, He has seen the end from the beginning. Wouldn’t you be safer in the hands of the engineer who made a whole planet just to support your existence?

He loves you, trust that

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

To think that a sinless, perfect being would stand in the place of a broken world is inconceivable until you add love to the equation. God loves us so much that he adorned human flesh to make sure that we could spend eternity with Him. Now, if He could come down and die for each and every one of us, how much more is He not willing to do for us as mothers, daughters and sisters who choose to fall recklessly into His loving arms? Whenever my nephew chooses to run into my arms and embrace me without any solicitation it is such a joyful experience that if he asked me for a treat I would gladly oblige… So, if I as an aunt am able to give my little nephew whatever he wants, how much more will our heavenly father not give to us when we surrender to Him?

I have come to realise, personally, after letting go of control and giving it over to the one who could actually see into the future, I can live a stress-free life. I don’t have to be anxious about each step I take, I don’t have to be angry at the next driver in a traffic jam because I cannot control the situation! And when life happens, I can roll with it because I know my future is secure in the capable hands of my creator, my Father, the one who loves me, who sees me as His own.

My advice to you dear woman, let go of the reins and let the adventure begin!
